Teriyaki Chicken Thighs - Low Sodium

Ingredients:

5 Pounds, All Natural Chicken - Thighs
1 tbsp, Spices, garlic powder

Black Pepper to taste
1/4 cup, Oil - Olive

10 tbsp Low Sodium Teriyaki Sauce Substitute (recipe included)


Instructions:


Prepare Low Sodium Soy Sauce Substitute​:
4 tbs sodium free beef bouillon 
4 tsp balsamic vinegar 
2 tsp blackstrap molasses 
1/4 tsp ground ginger 
1/8 tsp sodium free beef bouillon 
1/8 tsp garlic powder 
1 1/2 cup water 


Combine all ingredients from first part of the recipe under Low Sodium Soy Sauce Substitute in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15 minutes until the liquid is reduced to about 1 cup. Place the sauce in a glass jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator. 


Soy Sauce Substitute Yields 16 servings: Each serving is 1 Tbsp


Prepare Low Sodium Teriyaki Sauce:
1 cup Sodium Free Soy Sauce from above 
2 tsp sesame oil 
2 tsp Marukan Seasoned Rice Vinegar Lite 
1/2 cup sugar 
6 clove garlic (crushed) 
1/2 tsp ground ginger 
1/8 tsp black pepper 
 
Combine 1 cup of the Sodium Free Soy Sauce (from above) then add sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, crushed garlic, ground ginger and black pepper. bring to a boil and cook until sugar is completely disolved. 

Yield Aproximately 1 1/2 cups (24 Tbsp.) of Teriyaki Sauce Substitute. 
Serving size: 1 Tbsp. 


Prepare Chicken

Season Chicken Thighs with garlic powder and black pepper.

Heat the oil in a cast iron skillet and quickly sear both sides of the chicken. Pour Teriyaki Sauce Substitute over chicken and cook in a preheated 350 degree oven for approximately an hour and a half or until tender.  Once chicken is cooked, remove from the oven and put it on a serving dish.  Brush the remaining sticky teriyaki sauce from the pan over the tops of chicken thighs.
